From 8 to 12 October 2025, Ljubljana will once again become the capital of comics!
For the 12th year running, Tinta invites you to explore the colourful and exciting worlds of comics – between the covers, in galleries, on the big screen, on stage, and elsewhere. In a relaxed atmosphere and in the company of outstanding local and international guests, we’ll dive into the vibrant pulse of contemporary comic art, which freely moves between reality and imagination, embraces diverse themes and forms of expression, and isn’t afraid of humour, critique, or social engagement.
This year’s festival spotlights internationally acclaimed creators with distinctive poetics and approaches: award-winning French master of comics and animation Benjamin Renner, one of Denmark’s most prominent comic artists Rikke Villadsen, and the brilliant Belgian artist Lukas Verstraete. Joining them are Elisabeth Pich and Jonathan Kunz from Germany, the duo behind the popular webcomic War and Peas. Also featured are the dynamic art collective and printmaking studio Smak Press from Zagreb, as well as young French comic artist Simon Ecary, who will be working in Ljubljana throughout October as part of an international comic residency.
The multi-day programme includes exhibitions, talks, lectures, workshops, and a rich line-up for children, culminating in the grand comics fair at Kino Šiška, where the festival will conclude with the Zlatirepec Awards for the best comics of the year. Join us!
