Sangara Perhaj: Peekaboo!

curatorial series They

In the exhibition KU KU!, Sangara Perhaj focuses on faces and the personality we read and get to know from them. Communication between people takes place on several levels, at least the verbal and non-verbal ones, and the expressions on the faces of the communicators are an essential part of it, one that can confirm the spoken words or give them a completely different meaning.

We are used to recognizing faces extremely quickly, so we often see them in objects around us as well. We tend to respond to them emotionally, attributing a certain state and character to them. The artist tries to recreate the images perceived in this way and take them a few steps further in imagining their personalities.

Sangara Perhaj (1998) focuses on illustration, animation and sewing sculptures. She is currently completing her undergraduate studies of Video and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. So far, she has held a solo exhibition at the DobraVaga Gallery and participated in several group exhibitions of the Podmladek art collective, and she also collaborates on other secret projects.
