Alternative icon Blixa Bargeld and Italian composer, musician and sound designer Teho Teardo, who impressed us in March with the Le Retour à la Raison project at Cankarjev dom, are returning to Šiška! The legendary Blixa Bargeld first performed at Kino Šiška six years ago with the ANBB projects, then sold out the main venue as the singer and frontman of cult group Einstürzende Neubauten. Three years after their collaborative debut Still Smiling, master musicians Teho Teardo and Blixa Bargeld will present their latest album Nerissimo at Kino Šiška.

The beginning of their joint path goes back to 2011, when they both participated in the Inguria theatre performance, followed by the recording of the soundtrack for A Quiet Life. The gods of music looked kindly upon their union, leading to their debut album Still Smiling, which bursts with Teardo’s dramaturgical sensibilities and Bargeld’s affinity for experimentation. Their individual contributions come as no surprise. Teho Teardo, also known as the founder of Meathead and Operator, has many theatre and film scores to his name, and has received the David di Donatello and Ennio Morricone awards. Blixa Bargeld left his mark as the guitarist for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, as well as the frontman of Einstürzende Neubauten.

Their latest album Nerissimo is underlined by levels and possibilities, an expression of the private and artistic bond between the two creators; lyrically captured in English, German and Italian, stretched between microscopic Petri dish dramas and surreal epics; an emotional journey through the past three years between Teho and Blixa; the intertwining of baritone guitar, wooden bass clarinet and mellifluous voice. Travelling in the multifaceted blackness of the album, they shape a diary of apparitions, of colours that, once we name them, could transform the whole universe into a night-time flight over the extinguished lights of European capitals.

Blixa and Teho will share the stage together with Slovene strinf quartet: Oskar Longyka (violin), Anja Šoštarič (violin), Spela Pirnat (viola), Sebastjan Bertoncelj (violoncello).

“… Nerissimo (meaning ‘blackest’ in Italian) plunges Teardo and Bargeld into a richer, more surreal landscape of fantasy and despair. Nerissimo, for all its bleak outlook, is lovely.” – Drowned in Sound

“And while a little too knowing for some, Nerissimo stands as a fascinating example of two artists in full control, unashamed to lean towards the cerebral without turning the casual listener off.” – The Skinny
