Having won a host of newcomer prizes (the German newcomer composer price in 2015, the biannual newcomer culture award of the region Stuttgart in 2013), SEA + AIR have also been a frequent guest in multiple major music tv shows in France (arte), Italy (Rai 5) and Germany (ZDF, ARD), where they have brought to life their unique multitasking performance and use of ancient instruments. Playing over 600 sold-out shows, divided between their own headline sets and those in support acts as diverse as The White Stripes, Whitney Houston and Sufjan Stevens, the first 4 years of their existence has established them a loyal following throughout Europe.

Album “Evropi”

Every now and then a lovesong, as anachronistic as it might seem, pushes its way through the great fog of criticism and cynicism of our days. The Greek/German duo SEA + AIR‘s latest single, ‘‘You Are“, is such a  track. Having been a live favourite since the duo started in 2011 (with the TV Noir acoustic version getting over 100,000 You Tube clicks), the couple decided to record an orchestral version for their latest album, Evropi.

The breathtaking arrangement playfully combines the grand, dark orchestral pop of Scott Walker or Jaques Brel with the traditional Eastern mediterranean Byzantine vocal music, creating a unique, dreamy, emotional yet catchy track that fits into no genre but SEA + AIR’ s own ‘‘ghost pop“. It may appear sombre at first but its ability to enlighten the internet and radio landscapes during the year’s colder months is representative of the album as a whole, and indicative of the success it has gone on to be, including a peak at #49 in the German charts.

Raving critics from all over Europe include a commendation by Steve Lamacq, the UK’ s most influential BBC DJ since John Peel, when he played the single on his 6 Music Recommends show. Sea + Air official website>

Monowi Twins is a Ljubljana-based duo composed of Sanja FC and Andi Koglot, playing alternative rock with a hint of dark Americana and folk music. Their listeners first got to know them through their EP “5 Tales”, which came out in April 2014. It was followed by the LP “Hush Now” and the darkish EP “Then There Were Three”.

Their music takes the listeners into the world of dusty lonesome roads, remote villages, absurd atmosphere and nearly a parody of the American pop culture. Their lyrics are brimming with dark stories, narrations and personal accounts.

Their line-up is completely acoustic, comprising banjo and vocals, joined by violin (Gašper Povše), cello (Eva Razložnik), drums (Robi Bulešič) and double bass (Luka Dobnikar).
