On this occasion, Damir Avdić, still the harshest poet/guitarist/performer far and wide, will be telling his stories from the film screen and the stage.

The event will begin with the Slovenian premiere of the film The Right Man for Capitalism directed by Dušan Moravec, a documentary on Damir that was screened for the first time at SPFF Festival in Paklenica.

The screening will be followed by Damir Avdić in concert, presenting his new album, which will be released in September on Kapital Rekord. A direct, uncompromising, painful, redemptive record, just the way we known him and could never get tired of him (title photo by Ogy Ego – copyright ©www.thecliffsoncape.com, 2013).

Dušan Moravec was born in Idrija in 1964. He was a member of the punk band called Kuzle. His work history is very diverse, but film has been his only occupation since 2000. As a screenwriter and director, he has made more than ten films for ŠKUC and TV Slovenija, which were shown at various festivals and other venues across the world. He is a member of the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers.

The documentary The Right Man for Capitalism tells the story of Damir Avdić, the Bosnian musician, poet, and writer from Tuzla, who has recently been living in Slovenia where he also got married. The film is a journey through his books, music appearances, a theatre show and his life. The camera only witnesses the activity. His world speaks for itself. We learn about his attitudes through his lyrics and novels as well as discussions with other people. The camera follows Damir Avdić at his appearances in Slovenia and some places in the former Yugoslavia. On stage he is alone, with his guitar and his voice. Singing about the war and its aftermath, about capitalism, about love. The documentary The Right Man for Capitalism is a film about everybody for everybody to deal with the past and be able to look forward. To be able to reason the atrocities caused by the war and try to understand the world we live in.
