THE WATERCOLORS
The Watercolors brings quiet/loud and philosophically searching sound, exploring the paradox and dissolution, bubbles and breath, the transfixion of pressures within the organism, new creation, new sun, etc, the future of earth and animals and a biosphere sanctuary. It dwells at the crossroads of the synthetic and natural, of jazzy chords and hip-hop beats, inspiration and craftsmanship, pop and the universe. This album sounds like a future where all the landscapes of the past are available for exploration in a simulator chamber. In wobbly appearances, costumed creatures come parading, their identities splitting and morphing in line with the narration. Enter a jagged pink crystal, machines rumble in the veins, a birdsong glitches in the dishevelled cleavage of organ sound, garden ships hover above clearings where pretty fractals and trembling radiant nanoplants blossom, BladeRunner-like skyscrapers rise up from the morning fog of the metropolis. The vertiginous altitude of hearts and lusts, Western high notes reinforcing the concrete monolithic panopticon showering light and hosting a little piano bar on the top. All the instruments provoked from sluggishness by EROS and SORROW. Time does the jitterbug as the Congo barges in. Horns and mirrors. The Watercolors takes place in Claude Monet’s Giverny landscape in 2125 on a languid, humid summer day when you unzip your lover’s iridescent environment suit while discussing the age old problem of free will.

ARTIST INFO
Your Gay Thoughts: Gregor Kocijančič (vocals, keys, electronics, bass guitar), Fejzo Košir (beats, drums), Luka Uršič (vocals, keys), Mina Fina (video projections) and Michael Thomas Taren (lyricist) all met in Panama City on independent journeys in the quest for an enchanted skull and a native South American prince. In a cantina at the foot of a sacred mountain they laughed and laughed and they agreed to chip in for the services of a local shaman whose medicine might reveal the secret location of their query. For a bottle of aguardiente and a box of prepaid envelopes, he put them in a trance as they lay on rough reed blankets surrounding a pathetic little fire near his thatched hut on the outskirts of the town. Naturally, each of the future members of Your Gay Thoughts had the treacherous hope that the portal of insight would open in his/her head alone, thanks to the arcane botanicals. Their connivance proved fortuitous, however, as the shaman they had enlisted was none other than Dionysus in disguise. ‘The liberator’ aka Eleutherios unbeknownst to these selfish crusaders had enlisted them in a plan to join forces and demonstrate for captive audiences the world over the radiant nexus of our inter-sex eroticomusical fixations through a music that invites listeners to come back to the dream. He, Dionysus, wrapped the dreamers up in an invisible shawl that would keep them bound together forever as a quadric chimaera rolling around the world in a tumbleweed of mischief and clairvoyance and smooth future beats couched in sleek, rippling post-pop atomizations. Your Gay Thoughts, mirabile dictu, whelped in the asparagus fields of Ljubljana, jam on distortions in a bomb shelter under a church. The Watercolors is their debut album.

IMRE KISS
One day Imre Kiss opened the stage for the notorious black metal band Mayhem. Not long ago he was destroying the dance floor of the Berlin club Berghain under the flag of the Lobster Theremin label. Imre Kiss is a protégé of Farbwechsel and Lobster Theremin. He’s producing deep, distorted and hazy tracks that often sound as if they were made in a Soviet submarine more than a kilometre under the sea level.

HEADSHOTBOYZ
Headshotboyz, a Budapest-based duo, consists of Lajos Nadhazi and Kristof Ambrozy. In the past few years, their releases on Project:Mooncircle and their tracks on MadHop compliations have turned the genre of their own production towards various forms of the abstract beats scene. Headshotboyz played an important role in the post-production of the album The Watercolors. Just before the first live performance of YGT’s debut album, Headshotboyz will introduce their own interpretation of future beats music.

A I W A
A i w A is a part of the ambitious and colourful label Farbwechsel. Under a great influence of anime aesthetics, he’s abusing the drum machine Roland 505 and playing solos on synths like Korg Delta and Roland JX-3P. The common thread of his underwater jams is located in his funk roots, whether we’re talking house, techno or disco music.

NITZ
The local hero of deep electronic production Tine Vrabič creates his music under the pseudonym Nitz. With releases on labels such as Bio-Mechanics, Colours In Music, Bleepsequence, Chilli Space and Retrospective Zoology, he has set the genre frames of his own production somewhere between dub-techno and experimental micro-house.

ŽIGA MURKO
Žiga murk is a hyper-productive beatmaker and trombone player, who has been combining his classical jazz education of over a decade with idiosyncratic production tricks. The result is unique abstract hip-hop production-like sound, characterized strongly by crackling cassette tapes and the use of classical beats production tools such as Roland Sp-404 and Akai MPC-2000.

NAPRAVI MI DETE
For Kukla – the mastermind behind the project Napravi Mi Dete – every day is a birthday. Beside their original and playful music, Napravi Mi Dete boast an extremely strong aesthetic and performative presence in all its forms – be it a band of experienced indie musicians, Kukla’s solo act or the all-girls-super-group, with which she’ll be performing for the first time on The Watercolors LP release party.

MATTER
Matter is a lyrical boy band whose members, Dacho, Levanael and Tunja, live and work in Kamnik. Despite the active presence in the Ljubljana DJ scene and their club-oriented project All things, which, genre-wise, is mainly set in house and techno, Matter stayed loyal to their hip-hop roots, writing rhymes and working on slow and fat beats in their studio. For a number of years Matter have been working on their debut album, which is to be released in autumn 2015.
