Following the Slovenian release of George Monbiot's Heat: How We Can Stop The Planet Burning, Krtina Publishing House invites to the presentation of the book and discussion with the author, which is to take place on Wednesday 8th September at 6 pm in Kino Šiška.
The discussion with the author George Monbiot will be hosted by Luka Omladič .
George Monbiot is one of the world's most influential radical thinkers. In Heat he maintains that humanity could avoid the inconvenient consequences of climate change, if only societies would turn carbon-free or low-carbon sooner rather than later. He will talk about his vision of how it could be done without radically lowering our quality of life, i.e. by applying measures that are much less painful than the expected consequences of climate change.
The event is part of the programme World Book Capital Ljubljana 2010, which is partly financed by the City of Ljubljana.
Krtina Publishing House has organised the visit of George Monbiot to Slovenia in cooperation with Umanotera – the Slovenian Foundation for Sustainable Development, the Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia of Climate Change, and with the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
