NICK CAVE & GRINDERMAN in Križanke Summer Theatre, Ljubljana

Following a break of several years, the undisputed favourite of Ljubljana's alter rock audience returns to Križanke. Nick Cave shall perform with his “power” band Grinderman within his promotional tour celebrating the release of his new album. The hardly awaited Grinderman 2 is to be released on 13 September 2010 – less than a month before his appearance in Ljubljana.

Grinderman are:

Nick Cave: vocals, electric guitar, organ, piano 
 / Warren Ellis: electric bouzouki, Fendocastor, violin, viola, acoustic guitar, backing vocals / Martyn Casey: bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals / Jim Sclavunos: drums, percussion, backing vocals
, also one of the driving forces of New York underground – has played with groundbreaking bands like Teenage Jesus & The Jerks, The Cramps, Sonic Youth, also the current drummer of The Bad Seeds.
Martyn Casey – former bassist of Blackeyed Susans and The Triffids, the current bassist of The Bad Seeds.
Warren Ellis – the expressive first violin of the Australian Dirty Three and Nick's longtime companion in The Bad Seeds.

GRINDERMAN is a band composed of the very core of The Bad Seeds. It was formed three years ago as Nick – having drifted towards the world of safe euphony for a few years – again experienced the basic instinct of raw expression and energy. Grinderman's uproar, raw blues and sonic noise evoke the spirit of the early The Birthday Party. Their eponymous album was released in 2007 on Nick's original label Mute, its direct and striking sound surprising both their fans as well as critics who have been hardly awaiting the new album scheduled for this autumn.
