BERNAYS PROPAGANDA (Skopje)

It is becoming more and more obvious that reporters no longer only transfer information, but also excel in manipulation, deception as well as in the formation and control of our minds and perception. Thus, we have been growing less susceptible to problems around us, while they have been growing rich by providing our homes with instant entertainment. These are the situation and the moment that the band Bernays Propaganda (appropriately named after Edward L. Bernays, the inventor of PR and the ensuing destructive power of mass media) respond to and oppose providing their vote against.

From their very beginnings in creating music, the singer Kristina Gorovska, the guitarist Vasko Atanasoski, the drummer Džano Kuč and the new bassist Nenad Trifunovski have always been able to select the right words and sound to make many stop and think, at least for a moment. Indeed, the grooved Bernays Propaganda punk collective has already sparked several minor fires, even outside their native Macedonia. In 2009 they played more than 100 concerts across almost all European countries, form east to west, from south to north, as part of their debut album “Happiness Machines” promotional tour. Thus they earned their places in hearts of many fans, at the same time cleansing their ears of media dirt with their dancy music and sharpened lyrics. Despite signing in Macedonian, several positive reviews coming form everywhere serve as a proof that regardless of the language barrier, Bernays Propaganda have managed to get their message across with great success.

DARKWOOD DUB (Belgrade)

Darkwood Dub was founded in Belgrade in 1988. In its early years, the band used to experiment with its sound by mixing reggae and dub with strong guitar elements and expressive lyrics. Before releasing their first album, they acquired the title of the best Belgrade underground band, as well as nearly fanatical fans. Since their beginnings, the music of Darkwood Dub has always been developing, becoming increasingly dance-oriented. The band finally saw its mainstream breakthrough in 1999 upon the release of their album “Elektropionir”, which was hailed by many reviewers as the Serbian release of the year. The band has since released a number of albums, all on a par in quality and success with their late 1990's breakthrough products. Today the band is esteemed greatly by dance music fans across ex Yugoslavia. Darkwood Dub are Bojan Drobac (guitar), Vasil Hadžimanov (keyboards), Dejan Vucetić (vocals), Lav Bratuša (drums), Milorad Ristić (bass) and Boris Mladenović (sound engineer).

ADAM (Ljubljana)

A band of four, whose shared goal is to create an eponymous music entity. The band is composed of Peter Dekleva (guitar, vocals), Damir Lisica - Dado (vocals, theremin), Gregor Jakac (drums) and Anej Kočevar (bass). So far they have been gaining experience by collaborating with a number of renowned musicians in all fields of music, such as: Gušti and Polona, Big Foot Mama, Laibach, Dan D, Tinkara Kovač, Srečna mladina, Anavrin, Tide, Jadranka Juras, Tomaž Domicelj, Katalena, Andraž Hribar, Alya...

In June 2007, they recorded and produced the song “Odnosi med srečnimi”, the video for which was created by Urban Pekle. A year later, having become the standard repertoire of various radio stations, the song was received very well by critics and the audience alike. This year “Odnosi med srečnimi” was the song of the week on the Val 202 radio station, the number one song at the Slovestvica chart (Čarli TV) and one of five best videos on MTV Adria Top 20.

The original music that Adam create is about an innovative approach to established rock practices in music, and about slight flirtation with pop lyricism, which shows in their poetic lyrics. As the so-called music industry has not been doing very well recently, and partly to enjoy greater freedom, Adam have recorded and produced the album “Alfa” themselves. It hit the stores in April 2010.
