Marcus Füreder – Parov Stelar is a renowned Austrian artist whose unerring and subtle vision of eclectic music has shaped the past decade, having been providing an unrivalled experience by integrating jazz, swing and electronic music.
In the time when there were only hints of a swing revival, and long before any attempts were exercised by huge pop stars to bring back to life the genre that was born in 1920's, Parov Stelar took the plunge into the unknown. We might even claim now that it was Parov, whom Robbie and Christina were inspired by, as his dealings with the revival were exceptionally innovative and fertile. In five years after his first EP came out he released heaps of excellent material, each piece serving as an example of integrating contemporary recording approaches and relatively distant melodies. The most attention was attracted by his latest album Coco, with masterpieces like 'Matilda', 'Hotel Axos' and 'Libella Swing' that simply thrilled the audiences and critics alike. Another groundbreaking feature in Coco were numerous collaborations with musicians of various genres. Its notable elements are the strong presence of the singer, his wife Lilja Bloom, the wonderful collaboration with the excellent saxophone player Max The Sax, who also appears at concerts, with the electro-experimenter Blaktroniks and others. Naturally, his concerts make for a special experience, their most prominent feature being the exceptional energy that gets established between the band and the audience with the help of the excellent accompanying musicians. Let's dance.
