The project integrates young enthusiastic musicians mainly dealing with folk music. Each member of the band studies in detail a certain direction in music. Each member has different experience, a different cultural and music background and a different style of music expression. However, the band emerged spontaneously, based on the simple need to communicate in music and to transfer the simplicity of the music expression to the listeners.
The band interpret “folk” music as the music that is “close to people”. Paying respect to and having knowledge of music traditions of their own countries, Ethno in Transit perform, modify, mix and plays with motifs and various music styles, thus transferring the folk tradition to a wide audience. E i T perform at festivals and on streets, in villages, schools and clubs, they run workshops and seminars. It is also important for the group to visit remote places where culture is scarcely available. In 2011 they thus plan to tour in Chile and Siberia.
The band E i T is flexible and alterable: so far 20 musicians have collaborated on tours (Estonia, Austria, Sweden) in various combinations. When on the road, the band seek interesting guests to integrate them incidentally in their concerts. In Slovenia 2010, E i T shall comprise:
