Balkanbeats is a way of life; the feeling of Balkan easiness and Roma carelessness. In recent years it has spread to become the World rather than European phenomenon; from Bosnia to Brazil, Balkanbeats has captivated its audience. Balkanbeats is a combination of authentic “Balkan brass music”, gypsy melodics and traditional tunes reinterpreted with electronic beat or urban mixtures of various music styles ranging from ska to rock. The virus of Balkan rhythms and the joy and melancholy delirium has already infected Berlin, Paris, London, Budapest, Vienna, still expanding fast from New York to Melbourne and now to Ljubljana!

PARTY WITH LA CHERGA

On Friday 19 March 2010Ljubljana will be shaking in the rhythm of BalkanBeats for the third time. This time, Kino Šiška presents La Cherga performing traditional Macedonian music with bits of jazz, supported by deep dub and drum‘n‘bass grooving all the way to bliss. The night will go on until 2 am in the morning. This will be a real feast for all the lovers of eclectic approach in music integrated by strong and particular Balkan rhythms, naturally influenced by other rhythms and genres. After the gig records will be handled by the DJ Haris Pilton.

La CHERGA

Headed by the master of sound, Nevenko Bučan, La Cherga create mature, bright and tasty 21st century music originating in electronics and equipped with Balkan awareness. The group is composed of musicians from former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia). La Cherga's sound is a collage of international Balkan music and expression: their sound reflects the best coming both from the east and the west. Their feel for exciting mixes of traditional sounds and the club beat takes La Cherga on the path of no return... The debut album “Fake No More” (Asphalt Tango Records) was released in 2008.

A mix of Balkan brass music, jazz vocals, Jamaica groove and electronic sounds might seem a music recipe for disaster, but La Cherga are oblivious to rules, rather using their distinctive sound to show how to build bridges in music and culture.

Grab some friends, some drinks and turn the volume up: La Cherga play party music!
