HAMMERFALL

+ Armored Dawn

Swedish legends HammerFall are returning to Ljubljana!

In the 1990s, metal was in the thrall of extreme genres, with traditional heavy metal threatened to collapse into dust and ashes. Well, two youths in Sweden, Oscar Dronjak and Jesper Strömblad, big fans of bands such as Judas Priest and Accept, were playing their own music. Mainly for themselves, as it seemed that no one on the grunge-doused mainstream or extreme-minded metal scene was interested in playful guitar solos or charged double bass assaults. Soon they were joined by Joachim Cans and Fredrik Larsson on the bass. HammerFall drew the attention of the small Dutch label Vic Records, with the debut album Glory to the Brave following closely behind. A fantastic record, made with a tiny budget (recording and mixing supposedly lasted only 16 days), somehow found its way to Nuclear Blast, where the original version was reissued in 1997. The album hit the metal scene like a raging storm. It was followed next year by the excellent Legacy of Kings, which further carved out a path for the music called power metal. And the rest is history … All over the world, bands started forming and joining the new way, with HammerFall rightfully claiming the title of saviours of heavy metal.

This year, they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary and show no signs of stopping. Familiar faces on Slovenian stages, they’re coming back to Ljubljana, stronger than ever. The ace up their sleeve is, as always, an energetic live performance, making their concert a party you mustn’t miss.

They’ll be supported by Brazilian power metal soldiers Armored Dawn. The protégés of AFM Records have released two albums so far and are heading out on their first tour of Europe. They’ve bravely taken on the role of warming up the stage and the audience, so they deserve your attention instead of drinking beer outside of the hall.

See you in autumn at Kino Šiška. Long live heavy metal!

Organisation: MH Concerts.
